Psst… Need to make $100 fast? How about something faster or easier than working some overtime? Oh baby!
There are a lot of reasons that you’d need that extra money like:
- You’re saving up for something.
- Your boss cutting your hours just because.
- You enjoy watching your money grow in your bank account.
- You lost a bet on who can stuff more marshmallows in their mouth.
Or maybe it’s something serious. Maybe you’re one of the 16.9 million people who lost their jobs because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
To me, it doesn’t matter. Everyone likes money, and that’s a good enough reason. But like you, I’m tired of crappy articles that cram 100+ crap “proven” methods to make extra cash fast.
So here’s my promise. In this article,
- I will NOT recommend answering online surveys of other low pay rate things.
- You don’t have to watch videos or ads.
- There’s no MLM BS here. (Or anywhere in this site, for that matter)
- You’ll learn methods that you can apply IMMEDIATELY after reading this post.
I’ve compiled 26 super easy and legit ways to make 100 dollars fast. If you want to get to 100 dollars right away, I recommend that you apply as many of these as you possibly can.
Sell your stuff
Pretty easy, right? I bet there is stuff in your house that you haven’t looked at in years. Instead of waiting years just to through them out anyway, why not sell them?
1 – Post items for sale on social media
You know the saying “Birds of the same feather, flock together”? Well, maybe there’s some bird that you can unload your things to.
I’m sure that you have things in common with most of your friends, so it may be easier to get your old stuff moving on social media.
But even if you’re just friends with them because you all hate the same person, social media is still great! Your friends can still share your posts, so you reach a wider audience.
Here are a few tips to successfully make money fast by selling stuff on social media:
- Give all the details they need to know about what you’re selling.
- Post your items in relevant groups.
- Use hashtags to make it easier for people to find your posts.
2 – Have a garage sale
Want to stay away from social media because the millennials are taking over the whole thing? No problem!
With selling, the quickest way to make 100 is by selling as much as you can. So if you want to get rid of more stuff quicker, have a garage sale.
Just be ready for buyers to drive down the price like the extra dollar they’ll save will get them the winning lottery ticket.
But I still love garage sales! It’s one of my favorite ways to make money even though it eats up my entire day because
- I meet a lot of interesting people.
- I still get interested buyers on things that I’m a hundred percent fine throwing out.
- I find out who among my neighbors are cheapos.
3 – Send an item you don’t like back to the seller
There’s no reason you should keep stuff you only kind of like. And you shouldn’t have to sell it at a loss just to get some of the money back.
The pair of shoes you bought doesn’t fit that well? Bam! Send it back for a full refund. Go Marie Kondo and if you aren’t filled with joy owning it. Ditch it!
If the item you’re sending back is worth 100, then you can make 100 right away. But don’t send stuff back just to earn money fast.
I highly recommend doing this to reverse some impulse purchases. Or if it’s really crap.
Rent out things you already have
If you’re weirdly attached to your stuff, renting them out instead is one of the easiest ways to make money.
Oh, wait. That’s too judgy.
This is also a great way to make money fast if you want to earn using the stuff you already have. What makes this great is this requires zero investment… just be willing to have other people use them.
4 – Rent out your car
If you barely use your car, why not rent it out? It’s much better than letting it rot in your garage.
You can use platforms like Turo which promises at least $500 per month if your car is worth at least $28,000 and you rent it out 15 days a month.
This means you get $33.33 for each day you rent your car. So for a similarly-priced car, you can get $100 in 3 days. If you mostly stay home on weekends, you won’t even miss it.
5 – Rent out a room in your house
Instead of using your room to hoard stuff, make money with it. You can easily charge a boarder $100 per week. Maybe even higher, depending on where you live.
But make sure to screen applicants thoroughly. You don’t want to accidentally get some creep who watches questionable shows in the living room at 3 in the morning.
What I love about this is you make $100 fast, easily, and consistently. There’s zero work on your part. Plus, you can ask for a month’s deposit before they move in, so you earn even more right away.
If you find you like having some rental income coming in, you can invest a bit to get into real estate investing by upgrading your basement and renting it out. (~$3,000 investment), Creating a rentable unit. (~$10,000 investment) or just going long-distance by buying a cheap rental elsewhere. It’s all possible!
6 – Rent out your clothes
Are your clothes “so last season” and you’re on the verge of handing them over to Goodwill?
Before you drop them off for donation, just hear me out. Many people are willing to pay just to wear high-end clothes. You can find these people on Style Lend.
Depending on the brand, you can earn as much as $150 per week. And all you have to do ship the clothes.
Not too bad for last season clothes, right?
7 – Rent out your car space (carpool)
If you have co-workers who live in the same area, you can offer to carpool with them for a small fee. They’ll probably agree if you’re not a mean bastard at work.
You can charge a minimal fee of $5 per day, paid weekly. So if you get two people to carpool with you, you make 100 every two weeks.
If you want to save on gas money, this is a great way to make the same trip with spending less. And you can’t even use your car to hoard nick-knacks. So why not use your car space to earn extra cash?
Get free money when shopping online
How to make $100 fast? Do as much of your shopping online.
So if you hate wasting time by walking all the way to a store. You should buy everything online!
Without begging the Kardashians to adopt you so everything you touch turns to gold, you can get paid just for buying things you’re already buying online. Here’s how:
8 – Get cash back from more than 2,500 stores
Ebates (now called Rakuten) lets you earn money when you use their link to buy stuff from their affiliate stores.
And these aren’t obscure specialty shops you haven’t heard of in your life. Think big names like Target and Walmart.
Getting as much as 40% off your purchase? Who can possibly say to no to that!?
PLUS, Ebates also gives you more opportunities to get more extra money with them:
- $10 sign-up bonus if you spend $25 using their link within 90 days, which you can easily do with just one online purchase.
- Earn $25 when your invites make a qualified purchase.
Also, don’t miss out on their daily deals! These will get you huge cash back so you make $100 fast. I’ve been testing this out lately and it’s easy!
9 – Get refunds when the price drops
It feels shitty to see an item you just bought at a lower price. It’s even worse when you personally know someone who got it for less.
That’s why I’m a big fan of apps like Paribus which monitors the price of items I bought online for me. And when the price drops, it automatically helps me get a refund so I can get the item at the lower price.
On average, they claim to help save 10% of the purchase cost. It may not seem much, but you can potentially get 100 dollars for every $1,000 spent. I spend $2000/mo, so blamo, $200!
We talked about selling actual physical stuff that you have. But that’s not the only way that you can cut back.
If you want to figure out how to make money in a day, you better be prepared to make a few changes in your life.
10 – Cancel unnecessary subscriptions
How much of your free time do you spend using them, anyway?
If you say a lot, that’s sad. Because that means you’re not spending as much time trying out ways to make $100 fast.
And if you say barely, it’s a waste. Because you’re paying full price for something you’re not using.
The cost of subscriptions can easily pile up. It’s so easy to sign up for a $10 or $15 monthly subscription because it’s chump change. But look at your bills. How much are you spending in total?
The same goes for subscription boxes.
Do you really need new pairs of socks with random designs every month?
I totally get having one pair as a novelty. But if they’re starting to pile up on your drawer, then dang! I wouldn’t need to be a therapist to know that you have a problem.
11 – Downgrade existing subscriptions
If you’ve already developed an emotional attachment to your Netflix subscription, perhaps you can downgrade instead?
You don’t need the Premium plan if you live alone unless you love having people freeload off of your account.
And for your sock subscription, maybe you don’t need three socks per month. Maybe downgrade to two?
I still think it’s better to get rid of them for good. But if you’re not ready for that change, it’s better to save a little money than to save none at all.
12 – Pack your own lunch
I get that eating with coworkers and friends is a social thing. But this social thing may be costing you a lot of money.
Let’s say you’re spending $10 per meal just so you can eat out with your friends. That’s $20 a day for two meals or $100 for a five-day workweek.
So by choosing not to eat out for an entire week, you make $100. Of course, you can spread this out in an entire month.
Real friends would understand. If they don’t, they can just go “pack” themselves.
Get side gigs
Instead of wasting your free time doing nothing or bitching about how much work you have to do tomorrow, get side gigs!
Apart from having passive income and having a trust fund, this is the only way that you can make money and be in control of your time.
I really like using Fiverr for things like graphic design, logo design, or website help. You don’t have to be amazing – you just have to be willing to do it. And if you can batch a couple of similar projects together, you can make $100 fast with very little effort.
13 – Deliver food
Food delivery has always been popular. Everybody needs food. And most people don’t like crowds.
But this industry is booming because of the pandemic. So why not start delivering during your free time too? From my research, I found that delivery drivers usually earn $10 -20/hour.
So in just 5 hours, you can earn $100.
It isn’t much if you’re earning $50 an hour. But if you have the time, would you rather spend your day doing nothing?
14 – Teach online
You know what smart parents are doing right now? Having everyone stay the hell away from their kids. We’re in the middle of a pandemic, after all.
And this creates an increased demand for online tutoring services. So if you consider yourself even a little bit smart, here’s your chance to make money fast.
As an online tutor, you can earn an average of $20/hr. And that’s lowballing it. If you get 5 hours booked for the weekend, that’s an instant $100 for you!
The great thing about this is you can get a long-term client which can help you earn a lot more every month. And when that happens, the last thing you’ll think about is how to make $100 fast.
Saving is easier said than done, especially when there’s this big sale. And you realize, the biggest danger to your money is yourself.
*cue horror music*
If you decide what to do with your money, there’s always a greater chance that you spend it on nonsense… even if you’re the stingiest person in the world.
And that’s the beauty of automating spending. By removing that decision from you, the chance that you’ll spend it on Star Wars memorabilia drops to zero.
15 – Try money-saving apps
You can only cut back on expenses so much, right? You can’t really get by without insurance. Or food. Or home. Or phone.
Even with the bare minimum, you may still feel that you’re not saving enough. Or maybe you’ve been accustomed to some luxuries and aren’t willing to let go of them.
Then, I suggest you try Trim, an app advertised for budgeting but can actually do so much more.
It suggests where you can save or cut down. The app displays competitor prices so you can always get the best deal on everything.
Let’s create a hypothetical scenario. Using the app, you were able to…
- Find car insurance that’s $2 cheaper than what you have.
- Save $5 per month on your online purchases.
- Cancel a $15 subscription you haven’t used in months.
So you make an extra $10.57 every month or $444 per year. And the effort it takes to do this? Just downloading the app and pressing some buttons.
Read more about which money saving apps are bad and which are actually legit apps.
16 – Transfer a portion of your income to a different account
If you can’t trust yourself to save money on your own, try tricking yourself.
In figuring out how to make $100 fast, maybe you don’t actually have to make it. Why not automatically assume that you have less than what you’re actually making?
That way, you “make” $100 just by having that amount automatically transferred to a different account every month.
It’s going to be tough for the first few months. I know how hard it is to pass up on buying the latest iPhone that’s just a little bit bigger (or smaller? I can’t keep track anymore.) than the last release.
But it’s going to be worth it. You can use the $1,200 extra cash per year to start investing, making it easier in the long run to make more money.
Get more money from your job without doing more hours
A lot of people think of a job as a stable but stagnant source of income.
And to that, I just have one question…
Where the hell did they get that idea? No one’s ever hired anyone and told them they’ll be stuck with that salary for life.
Your boss would have to hate you to say that. As in you elbowed him on the nose right after a nose job kind of hate. Because you can get more money out of your job without doing more hours by:
17 – Getting a raise
If you think you don’t deserve a raise, these may be the reasons:
- You actually don’t deserve it.
- You just got hired.
- You just got a raise yesterday.
The point is unless you’re doing a crappy job at work, you deserve to at least ask for a raise. And you probably aren’t going to get it unless you ask for one.
And even a $1/hr raise can make a difference in the long run. For a 40-hour workweek, that gives you an additional $160 per month or nearly $1,920 per year.
Of course, I encourage you to ask for more than a dollar raise. But this just demonstrates how effective a raise is in making money. It’s a one-time thing that gets permanent results.
Besides, the worst they can do is say no.
18 – Try for a promotion
I won’t ever encourage staying in a company if you find other better opportunities, especially if people at your current job don’t treat you well. So yes, when I say promotion, it’s anything that pays you more – including offers from other companies.
And why do I say this? Because you owe it to yourself to do what’s best for you.
So when an opportunity presents itself, snatch it like someone with low blood sugar would snatch that last bar of chocolate. Because if you don’t, someone else would get that sweet offer.
With a promotion, you’ll more likely get more money than with a raise.
So the $1,920 you can get more with a raise? Double it at least. If you know how to negotiate and with the right company, this is very easy.
19 – Get work done quicker
How to make 100 dollars in one day? Get stuff done quicker.
By getting work done quicker, you’re creating free time to do whatever you want. If your boss values work done over the time it takes to gets there, this could work.
Let’s look at the earning possibilities…
If you earn $25/hr and take half the time to finish your work, you automatically make $100 in a day. You can stop right here or earn even more.
You can also use the extra time to implement other ways to make money. If you teach online at $20/hr during the free time you now have, you get an extra $80 a day.
Get bonuses from banks and lenders
A lot of banks and lending companies lure you in with sign-up bonuses. And you can take advantage of these offers to make $100 fast or even more!
20 – Open a new bank account
What’s the harm in opening a bank account? Nothing.
And what can you get? A lot.
Some banks offer sign-up bonuses to encourage people to open an account with them. You have to keep it for a few months and maintain a certain amount in it before you get it though.
But who cares? If you’re not going to use the money anyway, wouldn’t you earn more just by letting it sit somewhere for a couple of months?
Plus, it’s always good to have an account in other banks because they usually send exclusive promos and discounts. So the more banks you have an account with, the more discounts you can get.
21 – Refinance your student loan
Let’s forget why people refinance their student loans for a minute.
For the sake of argument, let’s assume that you want to refinance because your current lender charges pre-payment fees… Would refinancing still be worth it?
With the right lender, definitely.
You can get as much as $550 bonus for a sign-up process that only takes you 15 minutes. (Read my list of recommendations.)
22 – Open an investment account
Don’t do this just for the bonus, though. Because then, you’d just be wasting time and money.
But if you’re really eager to allocate money for investment, go for it! You can use the extra cash to invest more and potentially earn more.
Honestly. It only takes 15 min to become an investor if you follow my guide for simple investing, and you don’t need a lot to start. Just do it already! (And I have a special Canadian guide for my Canadian friends, eh!)
Review financial institutions you use for banking and lending
Specifically, I want you to look at the terms.
Chances are, you haven’t reviewed and compared them with others. Who knows? Maybe it’s time for a change.
Making sure you’re getting the best offers out there is an easy way to get money. Here are two ways I suggest you go about this:
23 – Change your credit card provider
This may put a dent on your credit score, so maybe secure an ongoing loan application first before doing this.
But credit score concerns aside, here are signs that you should get a new credit card:
- You’ve improved your credit score, so you can get better rates now. And you should! No reason for you to punish yourself by paying more, right?
- There are cash back offers from other credit card companies. For a $1,000 spending and 2% cashback, you get $20 for doing nothing.
- There’s a limited-time 0% interest rate offer. You can transfer your balance to the 0% interest card, and pay as much as you can on your debt before the real interest rate kicks in.
If you have substantial credit card debt, this is an easy way to make huge progress towards it.
24 – Switch to online banks
Online banks, are just better. You’ll earn more interest and have fewer fees. And I mean, a lot more. Even up to 4% interest per annum.
If you have $2,500 in their account for a year, you can make $100.
Is this better than investing? Ha! Not even close. So only deposit money that’s already in your current bank account. Just transfer, the funds. That’s all!
And with online banks, creating your account is online too. You can do it whenever it works best for you.
Try house hacking
House hacking is buying a real estate property where you live in only one unit, then rent out the others. And here’s why I love this:
- You can get one even without a down payment.
- The property can pay for itself because you can rent the other units.
- You can manage the property without going someplace else.
How is this a hack, you ask? Because you get to build equity on your property without spending your own money.
People don’t normally earn from this. And if you don’t get renters, you’d be in deep financial trouble.
But if you do it right, this can be a great way to get real estate and even make 100 dollars extra. Here are two ways to do it:
25 – Go the traditional route
Traditional house hacking is what I just explained. It’s pretty straightforward:
- Get a loan for a multi-unit property
- Occupy one unit
- Rent the others
- Enjoy the free real estate
And because you’re living in the property, you don’t need to pay for property management. They charge per unit so for a quadplex, the price is pretty steep.
This usually works only in cheaper neighborhoods. Because real estate is so expensive in other areas, rents can’t cover your mortgage.
26 – Live in an RV
Think of this as house hacking on steroids.
If you live alone and are willing to make that sacrifice to get rid of housing costs, this is a pretty neat solution.
You can get a stationary RV for around $1,500. For this one-time payment, you can rent out your place for as long as you want.
And this arrangement works for single-family homes, which is great because its value appreciates more quickly because it interests both investors and non-investors.
Plus, you still don’t have to pay for a property manager because you can put your RV in the parking spot.
The danger here is if the tenant leaves and you’re left with no rental income. So make sure to screen potential renters well.
Make $100 fast? It’s a piece of cake!
…Or pie, or whatever your favorite sliceable dessert is.
What I’m saying is you don’t have to beg your boss for extra hours just to get paid extra. Just do a few things off this list, and you’ll make 100 fast.
But know this: $100 won’t get you far. You should learn how to make money fast. It’s a great way to ensure you won’t ever need to quickly cough up $100 ever again.
How can I make $100 in a day?
You can make $100 fast by applying as many items on the list as you can. The quickest would be selling your stuff and signing up to get bonuses.
How can I make $100 now?
You can make 100 dollars right now by deciding to cut back on some expenses. Let’s say you’re spending 5 dollars for your morning coffee before going to work. You can make $100 fast and consistently every month by deciding to make a cup at home instead.
What is the fastest way to make money legally?
It depends on how much money you need. If you need to make $100 fast, you can sell stuff around the house that you don’t use anymore.
